I couldn't find a board for this, but if there is one I'm terribly sorry.
First Off: I've never been part of a Hunger Games roleplaying site before, I've read the trilogy (the last book was a huge disappointment) but I've never roleplayed it, so I have exactly no idea how it works. Go me! c: I decided to try it nonetheless.
First Question: If your character is chosen for the hunger games, how will we decipher who wins, and then who dies? Because obviously, someone can't kill your character without your permission. WIll it be like a make a new character everytime yours dies?
Second Question: How will the Hunger Games participants be chosen? Just like names in a bag? Ha.
That's all for now (: Thanks<3
And if there's anything else I need to know about Hunger Games roleplaying, please inform me. Because I really need to get used to this. xD I don't wanna be the one that's like, 'uhhh..??" the whole time.

Actually, I don't think there is O.o; I keep assuming we have all these boards and then not actually checking XD
Ha ha, neither have we, so this is probably a good thing! XD
First off for me: Sea's away right now, so I can't bounce ideas off her to make sure she's OK with them; thus, what I say might not be how it works in the end XD Now, let us begin!
We'll start with the Reaping, since that's a chronological first, and likely a must-have into the bargain. From what I understand, our Reaping is indeed going to involve hats XD. Unfortunately we only have at most two eligible people in each district. This may cause problems. However, we are working on the notion of half-characters. Not everyone wants to be killed in the bloodbath, I'm sure-- that's kinda anticlimatic. Thus, we shall have NPCs and half-characters. The NPCs are things like Peacekeepers or neighbours in the Districts: the folk that no-one really wants to make a bio for, but that we might need until the Games begin. These can just be posted with and used by anyone. We'll make a lovely long list of all the accepted NPCs, half-charries and full characters-- anyone who uses an NPC will have to update the NPC thread every time they use a character. Then other -cough- lazy people -cough- who might use them will be aware of changes in relationships and their history. The half-characters should be slightly more like playable characters, but only just. They are restricted to one role-player, but they can only role-play in threads where they've been expressly requested (such as a training thread). The advantage of them is that the bio will be mostly free-form and very, very short :P
How we get these fun folks into role-play is where I get a little hazy, but I believe it'll go something like this. Just before the IC Reaping, the staff will draw names out of a hat for each district; these should be pretty binding, unless someone's plotting for one of their characters to volunteer. However, if a character is chosen that the role-player really wants to live (not "pretty please with a cherry on top"-- more like "I have a plot arranged!" or "I didn't want them to die just yet!), then they can create a half-character, and their name will be drawn IC instead. For those districts without enough characters, we'll draw role-players' names out of a hat. I think a good way of doing this one will be that people with fewer 'full' characters have a greater chance of being drawn. And, obviously, if you play the District 12 boy then there is no way you will get the girl as well XD.
Now, to the Games themselves. Personally, I was gunning for a system that more resembled a table-top RPG, with complete stats organised for your characters so that no-one could complain too much about attacks :P However, Sea has informed me that I must actually trust people during this role-play. Thus, asside from those chosen to die in the bloodbath, the Gamemakers are gonna take a back seat on this one. That doesn't, however, mean that there won't be interference from the weather, or a new batch of mutts let loose, if we get reports of people not playing fair ^^

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=height,600,true][atrb=background,http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/bb416/Fishie2011/SeafeatherTable-1.png] [scrolly:h(320),w(400),sy,as(font-size:8pt;font-family:arial;color:#7A61E7;position: relative; top: 84px; left: 50px;)] Hey welcome to the club! -gives Riah a high five- We don't really know how this works either. To be honest, we're learning as much as you guys are. We're hoping that after a few Hunger Games it'll get so much better that we'll be one of the best sites, obviously.
1. As Fallen has said near the end of her last paragraph, we're hoping that we can trust everyone into complying with each other. But if a certain person dodges practically everything, then expect us to tell you to deliver the kill or we'll just send in mutts ourselves. Or maybe even just blow them up right in front of the characters face, therefore scarring that character and getting rid of another. Pretty simple.
2. Haha! Yes. Names in a hat/bag/bowl something. lol! But it's not just going to be the amount of years they are (12-1; 13-2; 14-3---) We're going to include tesserae to make it fair. But this is only if your character has tesserae on it's bio. If not then you don't get tesserae, but your character will most likely be safe from the games.
I have 2 characters in District 4 (and I'm thinking about changing Ferina to District 6 if that's okay with Fallen because I don't want them in the same place. XD) So, I'm praying yet...not really so that my Finair gets picked for District 4's male tribute because he's epic and I loves him. XD But I'm not really planning on him winning...maybe top 5 but that's probably the highest. Meh, it'll go as he sees fit. lol
Also, Fallen, about the last couple sentences. We need to make an announcement post that tells people to please please please be honest and let us know who isn't being fair. For this makes a better Hunger Games. XD Or maybe they just want some mutts for a small plot. Oh wells.
And -cough cough- may I ask why you didn't like the 3rd book? ^-^ On the inside, I know Fallen is reading this thinking "Oh no...DON'T TELL HER RIAH! DON'T. TELL. HER!" Fallen and I had a conversation about the 3rd book a while back.
Yes, the book was disappointing, I'll say that much. But that's how war is. The book was just to much reality for some people. And at the end, no, Katniss was not depressed the whole time. She specified in the book about how some days it seems impossible to get up and be happy and what not. She didn't say all. And she's just scared that the Games will come back to take her kids away. Or maybe even just that their innocence will be taken away by what their mother has been through. Geez...she has been through a lot. Ah wells. ^-^ [/scrolly] |

Okay, that clears up a lot of haze in my mind. But, how will we decide who wins? Or did you answer that and I didn't read it closely enough? Sorry, it's about 10:24, and I was shopping all day so I'm kind of exhausted and not thinking clealy. I'm asking because I'm making a career, because well, I think roleplaying one would be super fantastic. And.. exciting? Hahaha. I'm hoping that when she volunteers she can win.. But I don't wanna be unfair, that's why I asked. xD I don't want her to die, like you stated above. And answering the question about the last book: Yes, I can understand why you think that. And I also respect it. But I guess I was just super mad at Gale at the end because it just seemed to me like he abandoned her. Whileas, he probably knew she would choose Pita.. I just didn't understand how that all was playing out I guess. Plus, parts of the book were kind of slow. I guess I was comparing it to the first of the trilogy, which was indeed my favorite. ANYWAY. That's my reasoning. ^^" Plus, they are very other small details to why I didn't like it. Example: FINNICK FREAKIN' DIES! PLUS HIS WIFE WAS PREGNANT!! Sorry, that part just made me unbelievably upset. When I read what happened my mouth literally was hanging open, and I was very confused to why the author would do such a thing. And also considering that he was my favorite character next to Primose, who also died, which also made me mad. I know it was to make the book more exciting, but still! XD And also something very random. Have you two read "Gone" by Michael Grant? It's an amazing series. And four books are currently out. The fifth and sixth will come out in 2012 and 2013, which is very disappointing. I hate when publishing comanies, or whoever is in charge of the release date, do that. ANYHOW. It's a very creative series that you should look up. (: LAST THINGGG. How do I make my display name show up? I've noticed it won't show up for some reason, and it bothers me. xD -riah

But let's say I win this year, I won't win again until everyone else has won once. At least that's how I think it should work. XD But it's not going to be like me, you, Fallen, Eve, Enigma...It's just going to be whoever. lol
Yes yes yes yes!!! I agree COMPLETELY with what you just said. Even though I got the book around 12 and finished it at 2 in the morning of the same day, parts of the book were still slow. That's how I feel about Gale. I mean, Peeta is better than ANY of them (excluding Finnick XD) because he gave Gale to her in the 2nd book. I know this because I just finished reading it for the 3rd or 4th time. XD And Gale just abandons her? Sissy.
OMIGSHIKNOWIWANTEDTOCRY!!!!!
My poor Finnick. -sniffles- I'm not obsessed, Riah, I am in love. XD At least...that's what the voices tell me. O.o I cried when Finnick confessed the secrets about President Snow selling his body...-sniffles-
Pretty funny story though, after I read that book I drew a lion version of Finnick and he had a 4 on his hind leg. The kid behind me says "Does that lion have a tramp stamp?" Couldn't help but laugh because it was completely like him to say and it gave me an image of President snow in a long overcoat with fur, chains around his neck, rings all on his fingers, looking exactly like a pimp. I'm just saying. XD But my poor baby was his prostitute. -cries-
Anyways! Yeah, I still don't get why she died. O.o A very random, spur of the moment thing that Collins did. It was horrible and made me want to...I dunno, but just do something to make her regret it! lol
No, I haven't heard of that series actually. And I really shouldn't get into another series right now. XD My heart is torn in so many different ways for reading books that my heart is full. lol! I'm going to read Mockingjay again and then finish the City of Bones series by reading City of Glass. And then I was going to read The Giver which is a really small book. But then I was going to read something else but I'm not sure. Oh yeah! I was going to re-read The Maze Runner and The Scorch Trials before The Death Cure comes out. XD
Ugh, went to bed at like 4:45AM and woke up at...8:30 I think? And then had a 5 hour drive back home, I am exhausted! [/scrolly] |

-pokepokenudgenudge- How do I make my display name show up? ^^"
And don't think I didn't read all of that, I did. But I know if I post a response to all that this thread will be never ending. xD And I'll start rambling... Which you don't want. It gets bad. o.o
Edit:
Just realized something. My display name is there. But it is black, so I cannot see it, and I have no idea how to fix it. xD

It is... SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THAT :O Fallen is an evil blighter and makes horrible things happen sometimes XD It also gives you an incentive to buy a colour for your name from the shop! XD Oh, and which browser are you using? There should be a white glow around the text, although it might be kinda faint.
I GET TO READ THROUGH FOUR POSTS AND REPLY TO EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED, YAY ME XD I'm just going to quote you people XD I know it makes my responses look accusatory, but I am lazy... and I need to have everything in front of me so that I don't accidentally answer a stupid question, or forget to answer a non-stupid one ^^; XD
Judging by the above method, by writers 'duking it out', to quote everyone's favourite body of water XD The whole
All of the truth. This is it.
Prim's death was... argh. So horrible. So stupid. And, like Finnick's death, so maddeningly pointless. Suzanne Collins, why must your reality burn so much? D':
I have indeed :D It's beginning to lose its spark for me, though. I mean, everything turns out fine in the end of every book-- there is only tension in the middle >.< And you're telling me I will need to read three more of them before they finally have some kind of resolution to it? D: I mean, the premise was great, but it's just getting to the point where 'Oh my gosh, childrena are smoking' just makes me angry, and I want to see someone get off their lazy tailbones and do something about it. I don't care who it is. Someone needs to shape up their act, or I will lose what little remains of my cool very, very quickly. Also, someone needs to reconcile the whole alien idea with me before I go mad: the alien feels like a randomly-contrived plot device, even when its presence was made obvious since the first book. I just want all the answers, Mr. Grant. Is that too much to ask? XDD
Also, ramble away :D We don't have nearly enough talking going on on this site XD Help us make Caged acceptably active! :D

Hahahahaha, well I'm afraid I'll be rambling instead of doing something more... redemptive? I don't know if I spelled that correctly. Like roleplaying, since this is a roleplaying site, and possibly making a new tribute... possibly. I need muse. o.e Curse you writer's block D:< Why can't you come when I'm busy?! Instead of when I'm home... doing nothing. You, writer's block do not help whatsoever to cure that boredom. But responding to that last paragraph you typed, Fallen, because.. I really feel the need to. Did you know they made a fourth book? o: You mentioned three more to read, so I thought you didn't know about the fourth one. And I dunno, I kinda like how they're written, because something goes unanswered in each and is resolved in the next book... sometimes. But yes, since you didn't mention the fourth I won't go ranting about it because it seriously pissed me off (And I don't wanna give you spoilers to why. Please excuse my language) I mean some of the parts I read I was like this, "WTF??!?!?!? How can that happen?!!?" or, "Oh. My. God. That did no just happen." Or something very exaggerated like those two thoughts I somewhat portayed while reading. c: But when I have to wait for a book to come out, I read others, Fallen. Or I reread the series (because I'm a fast reader) so I know what's going on in the first book. This is also an example why I like to read series that already have ALL OF THEIR books out. It makes it less... irritating. xD Cuz then you know, "Oh! I can just go buy the next one and not have to worry about waiting." And with my Nook, I don't have to worry about it not being in stock. <3 So I highly recommend Nooks, they give you amazing deals. But, if I must add, I kind of smoke, Fallen. xD And I know it's bad, and I curse myself for it everyday. I just thought I'd point that out so if you continue to talk about it you won't... critisize it more heavily? I don't wanna feel more guilty about killing my body than I already am. xD Don't think I'm upset with you or anything, because it's probably a good thing you're against it. Wait, did I say probably a good thing? I meant definitely a good thing. It's a bad habit. Both smoking weed and cigarettes... Except weed isn't AS bad, if you don't smoke it for years on end. ANYWAY I'LL STOP TALKING ABOUT DRUGS NOW. Sorry. D:

Ah, writer's block, the world's worst enemy. It has taken the lives of more innocent threads than I can count :c
Oh, no I knew about the fourth one ^^; I've only just read the third book, though, and knew nothing about the other two in the pipeline... Which makes three that I will have to read :P And yes, publishers who do that deserve to be shot. I mean seriously, we are don't have much choice about buying the books if we want to know what happens. Increasing time between them means that people like me forget about them and are less likely to end up buying anything XD
Really? I don't really remember the first few books being like that. To be honest, I have no idea what actually happened at the end of the second book any more XD. They all kinda blur together into one long book XD I'll get it out when exams are over and then you can rant and rail all you like, and I will probably join in ^^; XD I CAN RECOMMEND BOOKS. Even though you probably have completely different tastes to me XD Every time I go to the local library, I realise just how nasty and insignificant our school library is, and it's just... You know the feeling of just being around thousands on thousands of books, all of which you want to read? That smell of worn, loved paper? It's a smell worth living for ^^ Ha ha, you're lucky! I read pretty slowly because I absorb things quite slowly, so I can't enjoy a book unless I take my sweet time reading it, and tick off the person who's reserved it after me :P XD The Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher has six moderately large books out at the moment, so if you're interested in fantasy and magic and awesome then that's a good series, although it's in for the long haul too.
:o How much is a Nook, I wonder. I will go look it up... though that would make me feel like I was reading fanfiction or a role-play all the time XD Paper is lovely stuff ^^;
Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry, Riah DX I... argh. I am sorry :c I should probably have clarified that part, actually. Although I am... bothered by smoking (sorry again :C), what mostly annoyed me about the books was that it was how the author portrayed it. I have trouble accepting that in that entire city, no-one has a friend who would stand up and try to help them change this :c. But anyway yes. I am sorry again, and... I guess I hope you find the strength to kick the habit, when you can? Is sad. Sad Fallen does not want Frosty to be inhaling bad things :C -Offers apology-hug-

Oh! Fallen! It's perfectly fine! I guess in a way I'm kind of being a hypocrite when I say smoking is bad and yet I smoke myself. xD So please don't feel bad! -hugs back-
But now I must make another character. c: Cuz... I can. Well, actually I'm going to read then think of a personality and suchhh.

Arg...stupid curiosity and the genuine desire to help Riah!
Have you tried quitting before? I've seen so many things on how to drop stuff. So far, only 2 things work quickly.
1) Drop it 'cold turkey'. My grandpa who was around...65 when he dropped it 'cold turkey' and he started smoking when he was 7 years old. I'd say he's a pretty stubborn man, and he believed that smoking was okay that it wasn't harming him. So for the doctor to tell him that he needs to drop it and drop it now, grandpa must have thought between loosing cigarettes or his life...he'll drop the cigs.
2) I'm sure (if you tried to quit before) that you promised yourself, believed that with all your heart you won't smoke again, and it didn't exactly work. Next time you want to quit, promise a friend who knows about it: someone who doesn't smoke and someone who thinks that it's not good or that it's destructive. And know that if you fail to keep your promise of picking up another cigarette, that not only means you broke the promise to yourself, you also broke it to your friend. Or maybe make the promise to break that habit with a friend who also wants to quit. It's just extra motivation for you to quit.
Fallen and I aren't here to judge you or anything. We're here to encourage you to 'fight the good fight'. So if you need support, or advice or questions, I'm pretty positive that we can help you out in some way or another. Even though I just met you like...a week ago?...I still wanna help.
Also, for the record, I hate writer's block too. XD I write books an-
Seastar: "Attempt to write them would be more accurate."
-glares- Anyways! I write books and I hate it when I get stuck in such a highly charged moment! lol! Hate it! XD[/scrolly] |
